AMA Chicago Board of Directors
AMA Chicago is a non-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Board members contribute their expertise in specific knowledge areas through committee participation. This focused group shares big ideas and shapes the strategic marketing future of our premier, volunteer organization – one that’s established a 75-year legacy. Learn more about our board of directors
The community programming committee works on SIGs and all monthly programs. Ideal committee members are seasoned marketing professionals with a large network and a willingness to reach out to those in their network frequently.
Program Chairs – Collaborate with programming committee to develop monthly programs. Event hosting experience and connections to speakers and venues preferred. Prior experience in sponsor relations and/or event promotion a plus.
SIG Chairs – Lead shared interest groups (SIGs) for one of the subsets, including: eCommerce, Martech, Market Research, Brand, Content Marketing, Social Media, Creative, Marketing Disrupted, Marketing Basics, Non-profits and Executive Circle.
The executive programming committee leads Brand Smart, MarketingTech Smart, CMO Smart and smaller programming developed for executive marketers.

The communications committee is our chapter’s content marketing engine. This team drives thought-leadership and branding through our editorial, promotional and community content. All committee members participate in a monthly team conference call.
Copywriters – Work with the program committee to generate social, email and web content to promote registration and endorse speakers and sponsors for these two event series, which occur monthly. Time estimate: 2-3 hrs/week
Creative/Graphic Designer – Create graphics for our social media platforms, website and promotions. Time estimate: 2-3 hrs/week
Social Coordinator – Engage with our online community in real time at our marquee events throughout the year. Experience with live tweeting, Facebook live, video or blogging preferred.
Email Coordinator – Write and distribute regular email communications. Digital marketing and MailChimp experience preferred.
Website – Blog Strategist – Seek contributors to write blog posts centered around the monthly topic (goal = 1 post/week). Edit posts to maintain consistent format. Add blog posts to the website and perform basic SEO for each post to extend online visibility. Communicates with the social media and email marketing teams to boost visibility. Time estimate: 2-3 hours/week
Guest Blogger – Interview Chicago area marketers and thought-leaders to write relevant blog posts or generate blog posts centered around the monthly topic. Time estimate: Varies
On-site Events Liaison – Available to be on-site at pre-determined events to live tweet, take notes on presentation(s) and write blog post recaps, and/or facilitate the attendee experience.
The membership relations committee handles all aspects of the membership experience and maintains acquisition and retention goals set by the board.
Event Volunteers – Register attendees, greet speakers, usher attendees and otherwise execute the logistics of the chapter’s various events.
Ambassadors – Connect the Chicago community of marketers with AMA Chicago, its membership benefits and its unique programming.
Connectors – Assist other AMA Chicago members in getting the most out of their experience by pairing them with opportunities that help them meet their goals.
The sponsorship committee develops partnerships with Chicago-area marketing agencies and service providers to financially support the chapter programming agenda.
Associate Director, Sponsorship – Establish partnerships with agencies, brands and in-kind partners.
Sponsor Outreach Associate – Work with the sponsorship team to solicit potential sponsors. Time commitment: 1-3 hrs/week – may be higher near a major event
Sponsor Liaison – Work with sponsors to ensure their deliverables are being met, and ensure they are engaged to get the most value from their participation. Time commitment: 1-3 hrs/week – may be higher near a major event
The marketing insight committee completes all research the chapter conducts, maintains the chapter CRM and provides the board with KPIs and other metrics that show the health of the chapter in all non-financial areas.
Associate Director, CRM – Manage Salesforce implementation, create reports, work flows rules and program data for KPI reporting.
Analytics Manager – Analyze and generate monthly reports to show trends in website, social & email. Experience with SAS or SPSS and correlating membership data points preferred.
The strategic relations committee develops and maintains relationships with collegiate chapters, academic partners, tech startups and other marketing-centric industries in Chicago.
Collegiate Relations Associate – Contact collegiate AMA presidents to keep up with calendars of their events, support their network and promote AMA Chicago events to colleges and universities.
Associate Director, Connex Sponsorships
The Associate Director, Connex Sponsorships seeks out shared workspace companies and agencies in Chicago to host Connex events (6 events in 2019).
BrandSmart 2019 Planning Committee Members (2)
BrandSmart 2019 Planning Committee Members attend bi-weekly committee calls and help shape the theme and agenda of the event, as well as make suggestions for high level speakers and brand experts. The event will be Spring 2019 in Chicago.
There are currently two open committee positions. Candidates should be director-level or higher and actively working in brand strategy or brand management on a weekly (if not daily) basis.
SIG B2B Volunteer
The SIG B2B volunteer works with the Director, SIGs and programming team to identify speakers and topics relevant to B2B marketers.
Event Volunteer Coordinator
The Event Volunteer Coordinator works with the Director, Volunteer Management to recruit, train and supervise event volunteers. Event volunteers register attendees, greet speakers, usher attendees and otherwise execute the logistics of the chapter’s various events.

The Blog Editor volunteer collaborates with the VP of Communications to develop content and ideas for AMA Chicago’s blog, secure writers and edit posts.
Proofreaders work with the communications team to proof weekly communications, including email newsletters, blog posts, web copy and more.
Programming volunteers offer general support to the committee in generating relevant topics, planning events, securing speakers and soliciting sponsors.
