VP, Communications

The Vice President of Communications is responsible for all marketing communications functions for chapter. The position reports directly to the President of the Board and manages all director level positions on the committee. The ideal candidate is someone who is a strategist at heart with deep experience managing a communications team of volunteers and has worked with a subscription-based product. Director, Programming

The Director, Programming reports to the Vice President of Programming and is responsible for programming with topics and speakers in the area of thought leadership on a broad range of marketing topics. The ideal candidate is someone who is a marketer with experience in creating programming/events based on attendee feedback and able to reach out to potential speakers whether you know them or not. Director, Communications

The Director, Communications works closely with the Vice President of Communications and the Communications team to ensure completion and implementation of communication tactics. This position is responsible for maintaining coordination among Communications team members to insure all campaign/promotion messaging is in harmony. Director, Marketing Insight

The Director of Marketing Insight is responsible for analyzing and mining existing member data and supporting the strategy to understand the organization’s membership through data. Director, Membership Engagement

The Director of Membership Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing a plan to drive member retention. This role reports directly to the VP Membership Relations and oversees several volunteers that serve as “Connectors”. The ideal candidate has the ability to lead a team to think strategically as well as coordinate activities to drive results. Director, Strategic Relations

The Director, Strategic Relations reports to the Vice President Strategic Relations and is responsible for outreach to local startups and small businesses with the end goal of promoting the AMA brand through developing key partnerships and to increase interaction between AMA Chicago and local non profit organizations and IL collegiate chapters. The ideal candidate has the ability to leverage their network or the boldness to create a network that would be mutually beneficial to AMA Chicago and to external partners. What is AMA Chicago?

AMA Chicago is a chapter of the American Marketing Association and a non-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Board members contribute their expertise in specific knowledge areas to bring the chapter mission to life.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for Chicago marketers to expand their knowledge, improve their skills and grow in their careers through access to leaders and peers in the field and skill-building content.

Board member requirements

  • Possess a passion for the mission of AMA Chicago and serve as a chapter ambassador for the Chicago marketing community
  • Be fiscally responsible for AMA Chicago, including actively planning and approving its budget
  • Be seasoned experts in their respective discipline, with leadership experience and the ability to manage teams through influence and collaboration
  • Serve as CEO of their position by bringing new ideas to the chapter, evaluating their feasibility and engaging in their successful launch
  • Assist in recruiting future board members and volunteers who possess the skills, commitment and energy to make significant contributions to advance the mission of AMA Chicago
  • Have schedule flexibility to attend morning and/or evening events sponsored by the chapter as appropriate
  • Attend monthly board meetings and other leadership sessions as determined by the chapter operations calendar
  • Contribute 10 or more hours per month
  • Serve a two-year term beginning at the start of the fiscal year in July
